Waikare Coastal Lettings is run by WAIKARE PROPERTIES LTD, a small coastal hire outfit working out of the harbour. We look after ferry crossings for visitors and residents, and we hire out the boats and equipment that go with a day on the water. It is a short list of things done properly, rather than a long list done badly.
Ferry crossings run to a timetable that shifts with the season and the weather. We keep the bookings simple: tell us the day, the number in your party and whether you are bringing a dog, and we will confirm the crossing that suits you best. Foot passengers and bicycles are both welcome.
The hire side covers small motorboats, rowing boats and kayaks, along with life jackets, oars, anchors and the usual safety kit. Everything is checked between hires and matched to the person using it, so a first-time paddler and a seasoned sailor both get what they actually need.
Much of our work comes through word of mouth along the coast, from holiday cottages, campsites and people who come back year after year. We keep it that way by answering questions honestly and telling you when the weather is against a booking.
